Dear followers of the former “The Morning Star,”
If you are reading this right now, you have probably noticed that this blog has a new name and a new look. I was tired of looking at my blog and not seeing me in it. I was seeing what I thought the world needed to see in order to accept me as a blogger. I will no longer accept this kind of thinking. I am not just a blogger. I am a Black woman who’s intersectionality is always causing me to see things differently, and It has always caused me to travel through life differently. This is why I have made Blk Women Heard (BWH). I want to talk about what life is like for a Black woman.
What is BWH?
Black Women Heard or Blk Women Heard is a blog for the perspectives, voices, and unapologetic Queendom that radiates off of Blk women. I made this blog because I realize that I have already branded myself around amplifying the voices of Black women and incorporating the voices of Black women in my pieces. I was missing two things: the recognizing of it and the name behind it.
Get With It or Get Lost
I realize that changing the name of my blog may scare some people off. I quite frankly don’t care. If you aren’t following this blog because you value, respect, and protect Blk women, then I didn’t need your subscription in the first place. For those who follow my blog and are excited for this new change, I hope I can give you a hug once this pandemic is over. Until then know that if you support Blk Women Heard, you have a special place in my heart.
Thanks for your support.
With Love,
Aura Shakhar
